Traverse Wall Activities
At Shepardson Elementary we are very fortunate to have a traverse wall in the gym. It's a great way for the kids to develop muscular strength and muscular endurance in their upper bodies. This is a picture of some first graders challenging themselves by climbing through the noodle.
Exer-Gaming
Believe it or not we can be physically active even with the use of video games and technology. In this picture we are playing some Just Dance II For Kids for the XBOX Kinect.
Jump Rope For Heart
Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraiser put on by the American Heart Association to promote heart health and raise funds for research and support of heart disease. This year we will be spending one whole week on jump rope activities during both Physical Education and Wellness. In this picture we have some 4th grade girls figuring out how to jump double dutch.
Tag Games
We begin almost every Physical Education class with a tag game as a warm up to get the kids going and ready to participate in PE. Tag games are a great way to build cardiorespiratory endurance as well as have fun at the same time. This is a tag game called Jack Frost tag that we played the week before our holiday break.
